Teaser Tuesday: Let the Right One in

For my birthday last year, my stepmom sent me a movie and a book. Both were entitled Let the Right One in. (Strangely enough one day before I opened my gift, a coworker came up to me and said “Have you seen Let the Right One in? Cuz you should. You would love it. And there’s blood in it.” Then he walked away–and yes, he’s a rather odd person, but in a very endearing way).

The movie was fantastic! And as I was unpacking additional boxes on Sunday, I saw this book. Having been disappointed by young adult fiction these last few days, I decided this book would be my antidote to teen banality and dove in. So far it’s delightfully creepy, and it’s darker than the movie (and for those of you who have seen the movie you realize that this is an amazing statement).

TEASER TUESDAY: is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the Title & Author so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teaser

Then he shouted:
“Eli! Eli”
and poured the concentrated acid over his face
