Teaser Tuesday

It’s a bummer being sick on the road. Can’t really justify calling in a sick day if company is putting up $300+ a day for me to be here doing work. THEREFORE, here is something fun that doesn’t require too much brain work:

TEASER TUESDAY: is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the Title & Author so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teaser
  •

MY TEASER:

In the darkness of the forest the young knight could hear the splashing of the fountain long before he could see the glimmer of moonlight reflected on the still surface. He was about to step forward, longing to dip his head, drink in the coolness, when he caught his breath at the sight of something dark, moving deep in the water. — page 1, The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory

One of my favorite things about Gregory’s novels is that she often begins her books with and anecdote from a character’s childhood or young adulthood. The stories can introduce you to a character for the first time, give you an insight into their motivations and thoughts, or can introduce you to a secret only you and the observer are privy to.

  1. Sounds like a good one – loads of girls have been reading her stories, I hope this one is great too.

    • Thanks, I hope so too. My mom is also very into her books and has been bugging me to borrow this one…unfortunately for her, this one is on my Kindle…and I’m not giving that up!
